January 2022 I became the photographer for Level Up Charity Football Club. This was a fabulous opportunity to immerse myself in Sports Photography with a monthly football match.

So far photographing for this team has been on floodlight football pitches during the winter evenings, often meaning standing on the sidelines shivering from the cold and wet from the rain. Summer can not come round soon enough when it will be sunny and warm in the evenings!

With a background in Synchronised Swimming and Cheerleading, I am no stranger to competition! Having years of experience photographing Live Dance Shows means I am aware of what it takes to capture and photograph the movement of such a fast-paced football game (and other sporting events too!)

In sport, once the action has happened, it’s gone. There are no do-overs like in a studio photoshoot and that’s what is exciting about sports photography. You have to stay alert the whole time! Knowing your camera settings is essential as it allows you to worry less about the technical side and allows you to focus more on capturing the magic of the football game. Having a good understanding of the sport you are photographing is also beneficial so you can follow the game and anticipate the movement as the action is about to happen, as-well as having a good time and enjoying the event you are photographing!

I am excited to get to know this charity football team over the coming months as I photograph their football games, as well as the opportunity to document and showcase the individual players love and passion for the sport.
